(FamilyConservationPAC.com) – On Tuesday, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) refused to say if he would back former President Donald Trump as the party’s nominee if he were found guilty, saying that he was “just simply not going to comment on the candidates.”
The Senate Minority Leader was questioned by CNN’s Manu Raju: “Given that the former president is facing a federal indictment and these serious allegations, could you still support him if he becomes the nominee, even if he’s convicted?”
McConnell sidestepped the topic by declining to say his genuine motivations.
According to McConnell, the Republican nomination campaign has been ongoing for six months. “I’m just going to refrain from commenting on the candidates because it will continue for another year.”
The congressman continued, “We’ve got a bunch of, and I’m just going to stay out of it.”

On the other hand, other legislators have expressed their disapproval of the Biden Justice Department’s use of Trump as a weapon in a straightforward manner.
“The former president will be charged with mishandling confidential information belonging to his government. However, everyone agrees that the president can declassify anything,” said J.D. Vance (R-OH), a fellow senator, after Trump made the indictment public last week.
“Biden is criticizing his most likely foe in 2024. He’s stealing the 2024 election in advance via the legal system,” the speaker concluded. “Simply put, this is what is happening.”
McConnell’s strategy of remaining silent has also been rejected by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), who initially called it “a dark day for the United States of America.”
Today is indeed a dark day for the United States of America.
It is unconscionable for a President to indict the leading candidate opposing him. Joe Biden kept classified documents for decades.
I, and every American who believes in the rule of law, stand with President Trump…

“It is outrageous for a President to indict the front-runner in the opposition. For decades, Joe Biden maintained secret documents,” the speaker claimed.
“I stand with President Trump in opposition to this serious injustice, as does every other American who upholds the rule of law. He repeated those statements while appearing on Breitbart News. “House Republicans will hold this brazen weaponization of power accountable,” he said.
