Biden To Remove Rule Allowing Health Workers To Avoid Abortions, Sex Changes

(FamilyConservationPAC.com) – The Biden administration is set to remove an executive order issued by the Trump administration allowing healthcare professionals to abstain from performing specific medical procedures.

Joe Biden wants to force doctors to perform abortions, sterilizations, and sex exchanges regardless of their personal or religious beliefs.

Under a 1973 federal regulation, healthcare workers can still refuse abortions and sterilizations unless doing so would result in “undue hardship to their employer,” according to reports.

Additionally, a recent court judgment that forbade a Biden administration directive regarding transgender procedures in Catholic hospitals is still in force (even though the judge confined the effect of the ruling to the parties in the case).

They might not be able to apply that regulation to so-called “gender-affirming care,” which is the administration’s euphemism for procedures or medications that imitate opposite-sex features but fall short of formal sterilization.

They would not be able to opt-out at their discretion (such as removing breasts as a treatment for gender dysphoria).

According to The Chronicle:

“The rule was scheduled to take effect in November 2019 but was declared to be in violation of federal law by three federal judges, including U.S. District Judge William Alsup of San Francisco.

The suits were filed by state and local governments, including San Francisco and the state of California, and by civil rights organizations.

The proposed rule went well beyond a 1973 federal law, still in effect, that allows physicians and others directly involved in health care to refuse to take part in abortions or sterilizations unless their refusal would cause undue hardship to their employer.

The rule announced by President Trump’s administration would have allowed anyone in the health system to withhold their service and would have applied to gender-affirming care as well as abortions and sterilizations.

Employers who objected to Trump’s rule, including entire states, could have lost their federal funding. As a result, reproductive-rights advocates said, health care organizations receiving federal funds would have been required to employ workers who were unwilling to perform their job duties in some circumstances.”

To “ensure strong enforcement of Federal conscience and anti-discrimination laws” inside the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), according to the Federal Register’s 2018 description of the Trump-era rule:

“The final regulation also calls for organizations and individuals to receive information about their right to be free from compulsion or discrimination based on their religious or moral views.”

California was the first “sanctuary state” permitting minors to get “gender-affirming” medication or surgery earlier this year.

The Biden administration’s policy would prevent healthcare professionals from declining such services.

Should medical professionals be forced to perform abortions, sterilizations, and sex exchanges regardless of their personal or religious beliefs?
