(FamilyConservationPAC.com) – Vice President Kamala Harris didn’t mince words saying the Biden administration will first focus on doling out aid to “communities of color” concerning climate change.
Her statement was in response to a question from actress Priyanka Chopra Jonas about Hurricane Ian aid in Florida during a Democratic National Committee Women’s Leadership Forum on Friday,
Harris said,
“It is our lowest income communities and our communities of color that are most impacted by these extreme conditions and impacted by issues that are not of their own making.”
Jonas interrupted Harris saying,
“And women!”
Harris quickly responded, “Absolutely.” She continued saying that the resources must be given out by equity even though there is still a fight for equality.
She went on to say that not everyone is fortunate to start in the same place, and that’s something that must be taken into consideration.
Rapid Response Director for Florida Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis Christina Pushaw responded to the vice president’s comments saying her rhetoric “was false.”
This is false. @VP's rhetoric is causing undue panic and must be clarified. FEMA Individual Assistance is already available to all Floridians impacted by Hurricane Ian, regardless of race or background. In a second tweet, Pushaw said people in impacted areas like SWFL are not considered minority areas and are getting help based on needs, not race.
Our thoughts are with the people of Florida.
