(FamilyConservationPAC.com) – On July 4, Angel Studios’ “Sound of Freedom” overtook Disney’s critically acclaimed “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” in terms of sales.

The action film starring Jim Caviezel is based on the true story of former federal agent Tim Ballard and his mission to save children from human trafficking.

The movie earned almost $14 million through “pay it forward” and traditional box office purchases on its opening day, taking the top spot at the box office.

According to reports, the movie recovered almost its entire budget on its first release day.

“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” had roughly 2,000 more cinemas and a $295 million budget, yet “Sound of Freedom” outperformed it.

On July 4, the franchise sequel earned $11 million and finished in second place.

The film received an A+ CinemaScore from critics and a 100% rating on the website Rotten Tomatoes.

According to a press release from Neal Harmon, CEO of Angel Studios, “SOUND OF FREEDOM earned the top spot as America’s number one movie on Independence Day thanks to fans across the country.”

Harmon praised the movie’s success on its opening day because of the unusual crowdfunding and pay-it-forward business model used by the studio.

“According to various communications we’ve received, cinemas are either sold out or crowded. This film has developed a life of its own and evolved into something more, a grassroots movement.

We are the highest-rated film in America, according to CinemaScore, and as the weekend approaches, word of mouth will only grow.

We are confident that our wonderful fans and investors—our largest competitive advantage—will ensure that the world gets to watch SOUND OF FREEDOM.”

On the other hand, the most recent entry in the “Indiana Jones” franchise was lambasted by critics and fans as being “weak” and “unfunny” with “woke” content that turned off its audience.

Ballard, who established Operation Underground Railroad, his independent child rescue organization, told Fox News Digital that he hoped the film would encourage viewers to support the cause.

He hopes that viewers will use the film as a resource and a chance to “intervene” and end child trafficking.

He said the movie reflects a real-life rescue his team carried out in October 2014.

Former CIA agent Matt Osborne, president and chief operating officer of OUR Rescue, told Fox News Digital that the real-life operation “Triple Take” inspired what you see in the film “Sound of Freedom.”

“We assisted Colombian police and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security in rescuing 123 victims of human trafficking in three Colombian cities over the course of an hour in October 2014, 55 of whom were juveniles.”

The Utah-based Angel Studios’ previous projects have all fared above expectations.

When the season finale of the Biblical drama “The Chosen” aired in January last year, “tens of thousands” of fans crashed a movie theater website in a mad dash to buy tickets.

According to IndieWire, “His Only Son,” based on the Old Testament tale of Abraham and Isaac, likewise far exceeded its budget, making $12 million while only costing $250,000 to produce.

Saving our children should not be a controversial issue. We must unite to destroy the evil that is destroying the soul of our nation.
