(FamilyConservationPAC.com) – The Biden administration was urged to classify Mexican drug cartels as international terrorist groups by the Republican attorneys general in 21 states.
The attorneys general wrote to President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday, “Because of the serious threat that these cartels pose to our country and our States, I hereby request that the Sinaloa Cartel, CJNG, and other similarly situated Mexican drug cartels be designated as Foreign Terrorist Organizations pursuant to 8 U.S.C. 1189.”

“Designating the cartels as FTOs will give state and federal law enforcement agencies increased powers to freeze cartel assets, deny entry to cartel members, and allow prosecutors to pursue harsher penalties against those who provide material support to the cartels,” according to a statement from the Department of Justice.
The Drug Enforcement Administration provided information that the groups “import dangerous raw materials from China, use them to produce deadly synthetic opioids at low cost, and unlawfully transport those opioids into the United States,” which is how the officials identified the Sinaloa Cartel and the Jalisco New Generation Cartel as the main offenders.
The signatories claimed that the cartels are linked to other international terrorist groups, such as the violent Lebanese organization Hezbollah.
The signers said that the excessive violence used by the cartels
“goes well beyond ordinary resistance to intervention with their drug trafficking and now covers a wider campaign to intimidate competitors and increase their control.” “This brutality, which always entails the killing of security personnel with weapons and explosives, clearly qualifies as terrorist action.”
When Biden called for a solution to America’s fentanyl crisis during his State of the Union speech on Tuesday, several Republican legislators shouted, “Border!”
