(FamilyConservationPAC.com) – According to a recent Ipsos study conducted before the Christmas holiday, most Americans say they have lost sight of the “true essence” of Christmas.
At least three-quarters of people believe that Americans have lost sight of the “true meaning” of Christmas, and 42 percent of them “strongly” agree.
The majority of Republicans and Democrats—88 percent and 66 percent, respectively—agree that Americans have forgotten the actual purpose of Christmas, as do even more Christians—84 percent.
Additionally, even non-religious Americans concur that we have lost sight of the true purpose of Christmas.
Notably, respondents were not asked to state what they believed the “real meaning” of Christmas to be in the study.
According to the poll, the survey was conducted between December 9 and 11, 2022. It was “based on a nationally representative probability sample of 1,023 persons.”
This poll is consistent with a Rasmussen Reports survey, which discovered that 65% of respondents thought Christmas was “over-commercialized.”
These results are an increase of 3% from the 62% who answered the same thing last year.
All parties agree that the holiday is “over-commercialized,” with the majority of Republicans (70%), Democrats (67%), and independents (59%) sharing this opinion.
Additionally, 58 percent of respondents agreed it is “too early” for retailers to start their Christmas displays. Again, there is unanimity on this issue across partisan lines.
The survey has a +/- 3 percent margin of error and started on December 6-7, 2022, with 1,000 adults in the United States.
