(FamilyConservationPAC.com) – Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Alejandro Mayorkas has stated that he will not revoke the visas of foreign students who attend pro-Hamas demonstrations on American college campuses.

Following the terrorist assaults on Israel on October 7, there have been marches and protests on American college and university campuses in favor of the foreign terrorist group Hamas and the Palestinian people.

Several Senators have urged DHS to exercise its statutory authority to cancel the visas of those taking part in the pro-Hamas rallies, as many of them are in the country on F-1 student visas.

This will enable them to be removed from the country immediately.

Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) questioned Mayorkas on Tuesday at a Senate Homeland Security Committee hearing about whether or not he would revoke the F-1 visas of those foreign students who support Hamas.

However, Mayorkas stated that he is “not in a position to provide that legal interpretation” at this time and that the topic is “a matter of legal interpretation of the statute.”

The heated exchange proceeded as follows:

John Kirby, spokesman for Biden’s National Security Council (NSC), made it plain last week that pro-Hamas foreign students studying in the United States would not actually have their visas revoked by the administration, rendering them subject to deportation by the Department of Homeland Security.

“… you don’t have to agree with every sentiment that is expressed in a free country like this to stand by … the idea [of] the First Amendment and the idea of peaceful protest,” Kirby said when asked about GOP calls to revoke visas for pro-Hamas foreign students.

A resolution sponsored by Sens. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) and Marco Rubio (R-FL) calls on the Biden administration to cancel the visas of foreign nationals living in the United States who participate in pro-Hamas protests.

Rubio and Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) have also written to top officials at the State Department and the Department of Homeland Security, urging them to promptly cancel visas and deport foreign students who support Hamas.

Foreign nationals from some of the world’s most pro-Hamas nations were granted green cards and nonimmigrant visas, including F-1 student visas, by the federal government in Fiscal Year 2022 alone.

For instance, more than 8,300 Iranians entered the country with nonimmigrant visas last year.

Furthermore, in Fiscal Year 2022, the federal government granted over 8,000 Iranians green cards, comprising over 800 individuals who immigrated through the Diversity Visa Lottery and over 520 individuals who arrived as refugees.
