(FamilyConservationPAC.com) – President Biden is going to negotiate a limit on the use of artificial intelligence in nuclear weapons with China.
According to a Business Insider article, Biden will meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Wednesday at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in San Francisco.
There, the two leaders are anticipated to sign an agreement restricting the use of AI in military applications.
The article claims that Biden and Xi will consent to restrict the application of AI in autonomous armed systems like drones, as well as in systems that operate and deliver nuclear weapons.
Bloomberg is reporting that a deal is being made between China and the United States.

The agreement is made at a time when tensions between the two nations are high due to China’s ongoing military build-up in the South China Sea and its eavesdropping operations in the United States.
However, the agreement was made when many expressed worry about the mounting ethical issues that arose from allowing unrestricted AI use in battle.
A similar agreement is “necessary,” according to Phil Siegel, the creator of the Center for Advanced Preparedness and Threat Response Simulation (CAPTRS).
However, he also suggested that other powerful nations, like Russia, should be parties to the deal.
“I predict they will make a deal on AI-driven autonomous weapons on the battlefield should only be for reconnaissance and not fighting; otherwise, the world will become a very dangerous place,” Siegel said. “I think there is more to come, and it is necessary to keep us from devolving to continual war.”
However, Pioneer Development Group’s chief analytics officer, Christopher Alexander, questioned the necessity of the agreement, pointing out that the United States would be giving up a strategic advantage it now has over China.
“This is an incredibly poor decision,” Alexander told Fox News Digital. “To begin with, China lags behind the U.S. in AI capabilities; so the Biden administration just ceded a strategic advantage. Additionally, AI helps reduce stress to improve decision-making, which is crucial in preventing a poor decision to release nuclear weapons.”
Because AI is developing so quickly and opening up new uses that could be helpful in battle, China and the U.S. have been racing to incorporate AI into the military.
However, both nations have come to understand the risks associated with enabling AI to be used without restraint, as evidenced by their participation in a deal earlier this year that supported the appropriate application of AI in the armed forces.
However, given China’s disinterest in the Paris Climate Agreement, staff editor at The Federalist Samuel Mangold-Lenett questioned if the nation could be trusted to uphold such an agreement.
“It is foolish to believe China will honor any agreement limiting the use of AI in nuclear weapons. Look at the Paris Climate Agreement: despite agreeing to reduce carbon emissions, China continued to be one of the world’s worst polluters. It similarly has no regard for human rights or intellectual property,” Mangold-Lenett told Fox News Digital.
“Chinese leadership has no regard for agreements that could slow down its quest for destabilizing the world order and displacing the U.S. as hegemon. The U.S. should continue developing AI systems that ensure national security and advance our interests — our enemies will surely do the same.”
