(FamilyConservationPAC.com) – Following a Sunday conversation with President Joe Biden, Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin instructed more U.S. troops to prepare for deployment to the Middle East.
“I have placed an additional number of forces on prepare to deploy orders as part of prudent contingency planning, to increase their readiness and ability to quickly respond as required,” he said in a statement.
The Pentagon has already stated that the number of forces placed on prepare-to-deploy orders was approximately 2,000. However, the exact number was not disclosed.

There would be a split of forces from the United States and other theaters of operation, including Europe.
To strengthen security for American forces, Austin claimed he had also initiated the deployment of a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery and extra Patriot battalions to various places across the region.
Recently, Iranian proxy troops have attacked American sites in Syria and Iraq. They have also fired rockets from Yemen that an American-guided missile destroyer shot down.

In his statement, Austin added that thorough discussions about “recent escalations by Iran and its proxy forces across the Middle East Region” with Biden led to the decision.
“Support regional deterrence efforts, increase force protection for U.S. forces in the region, and assist in the defense of Israel,” he stated as the actions to be taken.
Additionally, Israel has stated that it has not asked for American troops to fight, and the Pentagon has previously noted that the troops would not be involved in combat.
This action came after the USS Gerald R. Ford Carrier Strike Group was sent to the Eastern Mediterranean Sea, and the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group was sent to the Middle East.
“I will continue to assess our force posture requirements in the region and consider deploying additional capabilities as necessary,” Austin said.
