(FamilyConservationPAC.com) – According to the Pew Research Center, young adults, Democrats, LGBTQ+ persons, and people who live with a partner are the groups most receptive to open marriages, defined as “marriages where both spouses agree that they can date or have sex with other people.”

A poll done with 5,073 participants between April 10 and 16 and released in September showed that more than half (51%) of young individuals between the ages of 18 and 29 believe open marriages to be “acceptable.”

The age group most likely to share this opinion is young adults, with older persons indicating decreased support increasing age.

“Fewer than half of those ages 30 to 49 (41 percent) say these marriages are acceptable, as do 26 percent of those 50 to 64 and 15 percent of those 65 and older. And 70 percent of adults 65 and older say these marriages are unacceptable,” according to the survey report.

Americans generally are less tolerant of open marriages; only 33% think they’re “acceptable,” while 50% think they’re “unacceptable.”

Open marriage is deemed to be “neither” acceptable nor objectionable by 16% of respondents.

Adults identifying as lesbian, gay, or bisexual are more likely than heterosexual people to find open marriages “acceptable,” with a rate of 75% versus 29% respectively.

People who claim to be living with their partner but are not married and those who have never been married (47%) are among the groups most receptive to open marriages.

Conversely, open marriages are “unacceptable” in the eyes of 57% of married adults and 61% of divorced, separated, or widowed adults.

Democrats (47%) and Republicans (20%) are each more accepting of open marriages than the other.

Democrats’ opinions are more divided: 36% think such unions are inappropriate, while 47% think they are. According to the study results, liberal Democrats are likelier to feel these unions are acceptable (63 percent).

At the same time, conservative Republicans are more likely to think they are inappropriate (74%).

God designed marriage for three primary purposes: companionship, procreation, and redemption. These purposes are still relevant today and are essential for a healthy society.

Unfortunately, from the information gathered by the poll, it seems the sanctity of marriage is lost to young adults.
