(FamilyConservationPAC.com) – In a historic 216-214 vote against impeachment, the House of Representatives absolved Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas of responsibility for the border crisis that transpired while he was in office.
Before the vote, Reps. Tom McClintock (R-CA) and Ken Buck (R-CO) declared they would vote no. Rep. Mike Gallagher (R-WI) joined them in voting with the unified Democratic party.

Rep. Blake Moore (R-UT) abstained from the vote after it was cast, although he did so purely out of procedure so that the House might take up the issue again later.
In a meeting with the Republican Conference behind closed doors on Tuesday morning, Gallagher voiced his misgivings about impeachment.
Both McClintock, who told Breitbart News Daily last year that he believes the impeachment is unconstitutional. Buck, who declared last year that this would be his final term and has publicly stated a desire to work for MSNBC or CNN, was viewed as unchangeable.
Gallagher also voted with Democrats despite senior members and several members of the Republican leadership tugging his arm on the House floor.
Remarkably, Moore is a member of the House leadership. He voted against impeachment at the eleventh hour, just minutes before the last final vote and before the gavel fell.
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA), who spearheaded calls for Mayorkas’s impeachment for over a year, maintained that Mayorkas should be removed from office for violating the law and allegedly lying to Congress.
“My Democrat colleagues argue that one cannot be impeached for policy differences,” Greene said on the House floor Tuesday. “Well, I argue that breaking our laws is more than just policy differences.”

This is Speaker Mike Johnson’s (R-LA) latest setback. He came into office with a slim majority that has been further eroded by Rep. George Santos (R-NY) being forced out, Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) retiring early, and Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-LA), who is undergoing cancer treatment, being temporarily absent.

Johnson has not disclosed his plans, but it’s possible that he could bring the impeachment resolution to the floor once more tomorrow.
