Utah Lawmaker Faces Vandalism Over Transgender Surgery Bill

( – The home of a Republican state senator from Utah allegedly suffered vandalism following the introduction of a bill to prohibit transgender surgery on children.

State Senator Mike Kennedy’s door was defaced with a crimson spray-painted message that said “Fash” (an acronym for Fascist) and “These trannies bash back.” On Facebook, Kennedy made the vandalism public.

“Let me be clear: you will fail in your attempts to stop me from standing up for what is right by using violence, vandalism, or intimidation,” he wrote on a Facebook post. “I won’t let your cowardly behavior deter me.”

“I was the target of recent damage at my family’s house and the values that our state is founded on. We won’t allow violence and fear to determine our future.”

In a statement, Kennedy urged Utahns to “stand up and push back against radicals who seek to push their agenda in our state.”

“I am more determined than ever to work with the good people of Utah to make our state a better place for all, especially for our children, and I won’t back down,” he declared.

Kennedy reportedly sponsored “SB16, legislation that bans transgender surgeries and puberty blockers for minors,” which Governor Spencer Cox signed into law in January.

According to Fox News, “a national movement led by conservatives who say transgender medical treatments are unproven and potentially dangerous for children,” legislation identical to Utah’s SB16 has been passed in at least 11 states.

In a powerful statement, the Utah LGBTQ activist group Equality Utah, which opposed SB16, condemned the damage to Kennedy’s home.

“We do not know who was involved, but we have been told that it might have been a reprisal for his sponsorship of SB 16. We want to be clear that Equality Utah condemns these actions in the strongest possible terms to the degree that this, or any other act of violence or vandalism against our public leaders, is related to LGBTQ activism,” the group said.

“These horrible acts do not benefit Utah’s LGBTQ population. They don’t promote an atmosphere of equality,” the group added.

Other LGBTQ activists have not been as diplomatic when speaking to legislators against transgender surgery on children.

According to Breitbart News, Montana Democrat Zooey Zephyr, a guy who identifies as a woman, recently warned that prohibiting transgender surgery for minors could lead to “bloodshed.”

“This body ought to feel humiliated…” Zephyr added.

“I hope the next time there is an invocation, when you bow your heads in prayer, you see the blood on your hands. If you vote yes on this law and yes on these amendments.”
