(FamilyConservationPAC.com) – The cancellation of Tampa Pride on the River is a result of several groomer-related laws that Gov. Ron DeSantis (R-FL) signed into law and which, among other things, penalize businesses that expose kids to sexually explicit drag shows and other adult performances.
To shield kids from the extreme left’s woke gender agenda, which includes promoting transgender ideology and gender confusion in children, DeSantis recently passed a slew of anti-groomer laws.
The “Protection of Children,” or HB 1438, is a signed law. It sanctions businesses that let kids watch sexually explicit adult performances, like drag shows.
Florida students and teachers will no longer have to “declare” their pronouns in school or be forced to use pronouns not based on biological sex.

“We’re going to make you answer for it. There shouldn’t be any children around when there is adult entertainment or these sexually explicit performances. And this will ensure that it is,” DeSantis stated before signing the legislation into law.
Since drag queens would be performing at the public event, which children would be easily exposed to as last year’s event took place along the river walk, Tampa Pride President Carrie West recently informed outlets that their festival has been canceled.
West apologized for the chain of events that led to that decision. Therefore, participating firms can experience consequences.
According to WFLA, West stated, “lots of famous Ru Paul drag queens that come in for the event.” For the event, “people fly in from all over just to see the famous drag queens.”
It was a “fun event,” she said, calling it “very sad.”
According to the text of the bill, the Department of Business and Professional Regulation’s Division of Hotels and Restaurants is empowered to “fine, suspend, or revoke the license of any public lodging establishment or public food service establishment if the establishment admits a child to an adult live performance.”
The DeSantis administration has classified drag shows as adult shows, and they have previously been the object of their attention.
West continued, “People already, they’ve been talking about it, they’ve been making plans to come to Tampa, fly to Tampa, drive to Tampa,” she said, expressing regret over the festival’s cancellation, which she claims draws up to 20,000 people.
West remarked, “I’m sorry this has happened, but you will be the generation to make the change.”
HB 1438 was only one of many anti-groomer laws DeSantis recently signed into law. He also signed SB 254, which forbids surgical procedures and “experimental puberty blockers” for kids who identify as the other sex, and HB 1521, “Ensuring Women’s Safety,” which mandates separate public restrooms and changing areas based on biological sex rather than gender identity.”
