(FamilyConservationPAC.com) – At a Thursday meeting of the new U.S. House Select Subcommittee on the Weaponization of the Federal Government on the Twitter files, House Democrats tried to defend social media censorship.

Democrats attacked journalists Matt Taibbi and Michael Shellenberger, both Democrats, accusing them of having ulterior intentions and even requesting that they divulge their sources under the leadership of Ranking Member Stacey Plaskett (D-VI).

Democrats stopped the witnesses from defending themselves by employing the “reclaiming my time” strategy they invented when interrogating then-Attorney General William Barr in 2020.

Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the former chair of the Democratic National Committee, appeared to criticize journalism in general, including the notion of getting paid for reporting, in an alarming conversation.

Another notable instance occurred when Rep. Daniel S. Goldman (D-NY), who supported the “Russia collusion” hoax and served as lead counsel for Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) on the House Intelligence Committee impeachment investigation of then-President Donald Trump, erroneously asserted that the government had never actually instructed Twitter to remove any “lawful” speech from the platform.

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), the subcommittee chair, showed Goldman the evidence immediately. A member was heard uttering the word “Boom.”

Rep. Sylvia Garcia (D-TX) seemed determined to identify the sources used by Taibbi and Shellenberger. Along the way, she acknowledged that she had no idea what Substack was and claimed that journalists were a “threesome”:

In his support of free speech, Taibbi noted that it also safeguards the “right to be wrong” and hate speech:

The Democrats’ blatant opposition to the First Amendment astonished observers. Jonathan Turley, a law professor at George Washington University, wrote on Twitter:

“I never thought I would come to see this day where Democrats insult journalists for trying to reveal government censorship work and demanding them for their sources and confidential information.”

The subcommittee delivers on a key election promise made by Republicans to look into how the federal government uses — or abuses — law enforcement and intelligence assets to stifle free speech online and in the mainstream media and to harm President Donald Trump and his supporters.

Please, make no mistake. Democrats aren’t looking for the truth. They want to continue to cover their lies about how they used Twitter before Elon Musk took over to censor Americans.
