(FamilyConservationPAC.com) – According to a Rasmussen Reports poll issued on Monday, most people gave President Biden a “poor” or “fair” assessment of how he is addressing the nation’s fentanyl epidemic.

91 percent of people in the nation think the fentanyl situation is at least “pretty significant.” Of them, 71% say it is “extremely severe.” Those who believe it to be “extremely serious” do so regardless of party affiliation; 78 percent of Republicans, 64 percent of Democrats, and 71 percent of independents share this opinion.

Most respondents, 62 percent, gave Biden’s management of the nation’s fentanyl crisis a “fair” or “poor” rating. Of them, 48% said Biden was handling the situation poorly. Only 11 percent and 15 percent said “great” and “good.”

Additionally, 69 percent of people think poorly of how Biden handled the situation, as do 54 percent of independents and 24 percent of Democrats.

Rasmussen Reports has more to say:

Seventy-five percent (75%) of whites, and 64% of black voters and other minorities, consider fentanyl to be a Very Serious problem. Twenty-seven percent (27%) of whites, 30% of black voters and 22% of other minorities rate Biden as doing a good or excellent job in handling the fentanyl problem.

There is very little “gender gap” on the fentanyl problem, although men (28%) are slightly more likely than women voters (25%) to rate Biden’s handling of the problem as good or excellent.

Older voters are more likely than those under 40 to consider fentanyl a Very Serious problem in America. A majority of older voters, but only 33% of those under 40, give Biden a poor rating for his handling of the fentanyl problem.

The poll has a +/- 3 percent margin of error and was conducted from February 5 to 7 among 900 potential voters.

The study comes after Biden’s State of the Union address, in which he said that authorities had “in just the previous couple months” discovered 23,000 pounds of fentanyl.

He said, “Let’s undertake a huge effort to halt fentanyl manufacture, sale, and trafficking, with additional drug detection devices to scan cargo and intercept pills and powder at the border. Fentanyl is killing more than 70,000 Americans a year.”

Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) shouted, “It’s your fault,” throughout the speech.

Alejandro Mayorkas, the head of Homeland Security under Biden, asserts that the administration is “doing everything which has to be done” to stop it.

At the same time, detractors charge that it is not applying enough pressure on Mexico.
